Verratti Analyzes One Major Difference Between PSG’s Attack Under Pochettino and Galtier

Paris Saint-Germain has opened up the new season on a promising note, as it has picked up a win in each of its opening three matches. PSG’s attack is producing at quite a high level, scoring 14 total goals this season.

According to PSG midfielder Marco Verratti, as he noted following the 5-2 league home win over Montpellier, there is one key factor behind the side’s stout attacking success.

“Last season, we had difficulties against low defenses,” Verratti said. “Today (this Saturday), we played simply and we played a lot on the sides to find spaces because Montpellier were very grouped in the middle of the field.

“We remained patient, we had a lot of chances including the missed penalty. Their keeper was very strong. We played our game and the opening goal allowed us to have more space.”

As Verratti touched on, PSG had quite a difficult time breaking down low blocks under manager Mauricio Pochettino last season. But now, PSG is opening up spaces on the pitches with ease while in the final third, as both Lionel Messi and Neymar have been taking advantage of for crucial goal contributions.

PSG is now set for back-to-back key tests with the league clashes against Lille OSC and AS Monaco.
