There could end up being a transfer battle between two Turkish clubs for Paris Saint-Germain forward Mauro Icardi.
The Argentine forward reportedly already agreed “in principle” to join Super Lig side Galatasaray for this season. As of late, Galatasaray has turned its attention to coming to terms with PSG club officials on a loan transfer agreement for the veteran goal-scorer.
As noted by L’Equipe‘s Loic Tanzi, Icardi has recently garnered transfer interest from Trabzonspor. The Turkish side “inquired” about possibly signing Icardi before the ongoing summer transfer window closes. However, the former Inter Milan striker does not “seem” interested in completing such a move, as his entourage has “put aside” this possible transfer for now.
Icardi has not featured in a single official match with PSG this season, as he continues to take part in its second training group. He did take part in PSG’s preseason schedule against J1 League sides, but his showings in the contests sure were not enough to convince manager Christophe Galtier that he should be provided first-team minutes.
Icardi tallied four goals in 24 total Ligue 1 appearances last season.
