Report: One Hurdle Stops Valencia from Pursuing PSG Outcast

As Paris Saint-Germain offloads players who have no future in the French capital in the summer transfer final hours, Julian Draxler is the latest to see his name as a possible departure.

On Tuesday, Spanish football journalist Carlos Bosch reported that Valencia has their eyes on Draxler as a replacement for Carlos Soler, who ironically is reportedly on the verge of joining the current Ligue 1 champions.

Despite Valencia having the Germany international on their list of possible replacements, there is one hurdle: salary. Draxler’s salary complicates a transfer for the player under contract until 2024.

As a result, if Draxler wants to kick start his career and be on the Germany national team at the FIFA World Cup in November, the 28-year-old will need to take a pay cut to ensure a move occurs.

The decision falls on the midfielder’s hands in these last few hours. Draxler can stay in the French capital, collect his paycheck, not play or earn less, and get his career back on the rails that will see him play in another World Cup.
