PSG Star Remains ‘Public Enemy Number One’ for Real Madrid Fans, Pundit Believes

Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappé drew the wrath of the Real Madrid fanbase early in the summer when the 23-year-old opted to extend his contract rather than join the Spanish club.

A few months have passed, and Los Blancos have had their share of signings, but the bad blood of being rejected is still there. PSG and Real Madrid couldn’t face each other in the UEFA Champions League group stage due to being in the same pot.

However, should they meet in the knockout stages, a Spanish football pundit detailed what the reception will be like if they draw each other at any point in the knockout stages should both teams advance.

“Today, Real Madrid fans don’t want, at least, the friends that I have, don’t want to see Mbappé even in a picture,” El Chiringuito’s Edu Aguirre said on the Thursday broadcast

“By the coincidences of life, in February in the [UEFA Champions League] Round of 16, Real Madrid, PSG, the first ball that touches Mbappé becomes public enemy number one.”

Both teams need to get through their group stage fixtures, but they’re favored to advance to the knockout stages, and there’s no doubt those who don’t have a connection to either club want to see the matchup.

Despite never playing for Real Madrid, the France international will be entering probably the most hostile environment of his career should the matchup happen this season.
