Juventus’ Massimiliano Allegri Has Ability to ‘Cage’ PSG Stars, Ex-Midfielder Believes

When Paris Saint-Germain drew Juventus in Group H, many were excited for the return of Ángel Di María to the Parc des Princes. However, another player excited about the two matchups in the group stage, Blaise Matuidi, who also played for both teams.

The PSG-Juventus matchup will kick off the competition on Sept. 6, and ahead of the first game in a few days, Matuidi spoke with the Italian publication Gazzetta dello Sport, discussing the star power the Serie A side will be up against in a few days.

In Ligue 1, the French giants are off to a good start, scoring five or more goals in their first three fixtures under new manager Christophe Galtier. However, Matuidi believes that Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri can develop a game plan to keep PSG’s attack quiet.

“An exceptional challenge,” Matuidi told the outlet. “PSG has world stars and a scary attack with Mbappé, Messi, and Neymar. But if there is a coach who knows how to cage certain talents, it is Allegri.”

The return matchup will occur on Nov. 2 when PSG travels to the Allianz Stadium in Turin for what could be a more critical matchup for the Italian side, considering Benfica could pose a threat.
