Paris Saint-Germain manager Christophe Galtier has not rotated his starting 11 much over the opening stages of the new season. The lone difference between PSG’s first four fixtures of the campaign was that Kylian Mbappe did not earn a start in the 2022 Trophee des Champions Final and its Ligue 1 season opener.
At the least, there will be a notable change in PSG’s starting lineup for its upcoming Ligue 1 clash against AS Monaco, as midfielder Vitinha is ruled out due to a yellow card suspension.
Overall, PSG is set for quite a run of fixtures in the coming weeks, which include its UEFA Champions League group stage opener against Juventus. As a result, Galtier is anticipating making several lineup changes along the way in order to keep the squad fresh.
“I’m going to make sure that I don’t wait until the players are tired or close to an injury,” Galtier said during a press conference on Friday. “We start a 21-day cycle with 7 matches, the objectives are very high and I will rely on this quality squad. The staff is essential in these periods, players must leave during the game and some must start it to keep a freshness and lucidity over the duration of this series of matches. Especially that after this series, there will be no rest for many players because many will join their selection.
“Obviously, in the game against Monaco, we will have to inject fresh blood earlier than what has been done so far.”
PSG will play in a combined seven total fixtures from now until the September international break.
I have the feeling PSG is very much concerned with finding ways to reinforce the attack and the middle, but they forget about the HUGE need they have to bring in defence somebody like SALIBA or SKRINIAR
to cover a critical area.Iam afraid with all quality players they have they can be surprisingly defeated by a fast team with a little creativity. On top of it look at the huge spaces left on wings by Mendez and Hakimi who are way too advanced.
