Christophe Galtier Talks Kylian Mbappé Injury, Integrating French Star into Squad

Paris Saint-Germain hasn’t missed a beat without Kylian Mbappé, who missed the Trophée des Champions due to suspension and was out for the opening game of the 2022-23 Ligue 1 season due to an injury.

Nonetheless, PSG made easy work of FC Nantes and Clermont Foot, scoring nine goals in those two fixtures. In an interview with Canal Plus (via Canal Supporters), manager Christophe Galtier was asked about the 23-year-old star.

Galtier discussed his plan to integrate the France international into the squad that’s clicking to start the campaign. Nonetheless, the French tactician stated that it wouldn’t be hard to drop Mbappé into the lineup once he’s 100 percent.

“Today, he is essential in this project,” Galtier told Canal Plus. “He had the will to want to stay here to achieve very high goals. For a coach, integrating such a player into this squad is not very difficult.”

Furthermore, the 55-year-old stated that if the game had been a Champions League or a higher magnitude, Mbappé would have played.

“He had a little scare, and we didn’t want to take any risks,” Galtier told the French media outlet.

“If we were in a more difficult game or in the Champions League, maybe Kylian would have participated. But there, we preferred to delay his return, and I think he will be with us against Montpellier.”

Galtier and PSG hope to have Mbappé on Saturday for the first Ligue 1 home game of the 2022-23 season when the capital club welcomes Montpellier Hérault SC to the Parc des Princes.
