Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar Jr. has hit the ground running to start the 2022-23 season. The 30-year-old has three goals and three assists through two Ligue 1 fixtures and had two goals in the Trophée des Champions against FC Nantes.
Following Neymar’s two-goal performance, which nearly saw him score a hat-trick against Montpellier Hérault SC, manager Christophe Galtier spoke to reporters discussing the former of the Brazil international.
Galtier credited the PSG forward’s attitude and work ethic for allowing himself to be in top form heading into this season.
“There are things that have been said compared to last season; I will not comment,” Galtier said. “Concerning Neymar, since July 4, he is impeccable. He behaves well; he arrived ready. He prepared well.
“He performs very well in all matches. He is happy in the game, and he plays for his partners. He is an opportunist in scoring goals. He works well for the team, and in this system, you have to work well for the team.”
Neymar hopes to continue this form leading up to the FIFA World Cup in November, where the veteran forward will have the pressure of attempting to snap Brazil’s 20-year drought.
