Ander Herrera Reveals Days of ‘Uncertainty’ Before La Liga Move Finalized

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Ander Herrera has left the capital club on loan returning to Athletic Club, where he spent three seasons from 2011 through 2014.

The Spanish club can extend the loan for another season or make the transfer permanent. Still, on Sunday, Herrera gave his first remarks regarding his departure from PSG on social media and to reporters.

Herrera was asked about the process that led to his return to the La Liga side. He stated there was uncertainty, considering the French giants weren’t counting on the veteran midfielder this season with the additions of Vitinha, Renato Sanches, and Fabián Ruiz soon.

“The operation for my return was longer than expected,” Herrera told reporters on Sunday (h/t Canal Supporters). “It was a lot of days of uncertainty, and you think a lot. You are sometimes very positive and sometimes less so.

“It hasn’t been easy, and when it’s like that, everything goes through your head. There were desperate times. I will try to erase these moments of uncertainty and focus on what lies ahead, which is very exciting. I can’t wait to get started.”

Despite his future up in the air, Herrera added that PSG treated him with class and respect during his stint in the French capital leading up to his exit official exit on Saturday.

“We can do things differently [Concerning his departure],” Herrera added. “It’s a classy club that treated me phenomenally, the fans showed me affection, and I had impeccable teammates.”

Herrera now can enjoy the latter stages of his career at a club he’s familiar with and a league that the 33-year-old knows well.
