Over the last few days, Paris Saint-Germain defender Presnel Kimpembe has seen his name connected to a possible move to Chelsea that would allow him to reunite with former capital club manager Thomas Tuchel.
Tuchel has to rebuild his central defense following the departures of Antonio Rüdiger and Andreas Christensen. Despite the German tactician reportedly wanting the 26-year-old, newly appointed PSG boss Christophe Galtier doesn’t appear ready to move off from the defender.
During an interview with L’Equipe, the French tactician addressed the rumors linking the France international to a move to Stamford Bridge, which Galtier says he and Kimpembe have laughed about since he arrived.
“I have read everything that has been said about Kim. We even laughed about it together. He’s a player I like. He is direct in the human relationship. What will happen, I don’t know. He is a great defender, a leader,” Galtier said.
Galtier won’t come out and say that they’re looking to move Kimpembe, but with two years left on his deal, and if Chelsea does come with an offer that meets their asking price, it will be interesting to see if sporting advisor Luis Campos is willing to let the player go.
Furthermore, PSG is in the mix trying to land Inter Milan’s central defender Milan Škriniar, who would bring competition for minutes. With the World Cup around the corner, perhaps Kimpembe might not want to be in a fight as he wants to be a starter for the France national team, opening a possible move to Chelsea.
