Report: The Reason Why Neymar Did Not Play in PSG’s Friendly Fixture Against Quevilly-Rouen

Paris Saint-Germain opened up its preseason schedule with a 2-0 win over Ligue 2 side Quevilly-Rouen on Friday. Multiple veteran players featured in the match, including Lionel Messi. However, Neymar was a notable absence, as he was not included in the squad list for the contest.

According to L’Equipe, Neymar was held out of the match after suffering a knock to his hip in training earlier this week. PSG opted to hold the Brazilian forward out of its training sessions on both Wednesday and Thursday as a precaution.

At the least, Neymar will be able to join up with the club for its upcoming preseason tour, where it will face off against three J1 League sides for friendly encounters.

In the big picture, Neymar remains on par to be available for PSG in its upcoming 2022 Trophee des Champions Final against Nantes later this month.

Neymar is coming off of a season where he recorded 19 total goal contributions in 22 total Ligue 1 matches played.
