Midfielder Idrissa Gueye is a player Paris Saint-Germain wants to move on from before the summer transfer window closes. The 32-year-old has recently seen his name connected to a return to Everton, and it seems both clubs want to make a deal happen.
However, Gueye might have second thoughts about a reunion at Goodison Park. French publication RMC Sport reports that the Senegalese midfielder remains under contract with the capital club until June 2023 and would like to honor this final year.
Since the middle of last week, Everton has been in regular contact with PSG in an attempt to bring Gueye back. In recent hours, discussions have intensified between the two parties. They will continue to try to reach an agreement quickly.
There’s no further information regarding why Gueye would consider sticking around at PSG if he won’t be playing much, especially should sporting advisor Luis Campos secure the transfer of Lille OSC midfielder Renato Sanches.
Perhaps that might take some convincing, but if Gueye wants to be on the Senegal national team at the FIFA World Cup in November, his best bet for playing time and rounding into form would be with The Toffees.
