The new Ligue 1 campaign will kick off in mere weeks, and Paris Saint-Germain manager Christophe Galtier reportedly already has notable plans for how he will roll out his squad this season.
As noted by L’Equipe (via Le10Sport), Galtier is aiming to feature PSG under a 3-4-1-2 setup.
Under this formation, Galtier plans to have Lionel Messi feature as a central attacking playmaker behind both Kylian Mbappe and Neymar.
Galtier reportedly notified the PSG squad about his formation plans for this season during the team’s scheduled training session on Monday.
Now-former PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino featured Messi as a central attacking midfielder in multiple matches last season, including in the team’s 3-1 away victory over AS Saint-Etienne in the first half of the Ligue 1 campaign. Messi recorded three assists in the fixture and created five total goal-scoring chances as well.
PSG is currently set for the second friendly fixture of its preseason on Wednesday against J1 League side Kawasaki Frontale.
