Paris Saint-Germain sporting advisor Luis Campos has brought in a lot of young players with high upside, and it seems he wants to continue this trend. According to The Mirror, the capital club is eyeing Aston Villa midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka.

This week, manager Steven Gerrard left the 18-year-old out of the squad as the squad left for Australia ahead of the inaugural Queensland Champions Cup to continue their preparations for the 2022-23 season.

Chukwuemeka has one more year left on his deal, and Aston Villa is keen on securing a fee for the teenager. The report from the English media outlet states that PSG has reached out to the player’s agent to discuss the terms of any prospective deal.

However, the French giants aren’t alone in pursuing the midfielder, as Barcelona reportedly remains in the driving seat. Chukwuemeka has rejected the Premier League club’s extension offers and has been the topic of a contract stand-off for the past six months.

If Aston Villa cannot sell the young player this summer, he can agree to a pre-contract with any club in January. Should PSG spend to acquire the talented midfielder, Transfermerkt puts Chukwuemeka’s transfer value at €6 million.
