The never-ending saga regarding the future of Neymar Jr. continues to be developing. If the 30-year-old should leave the French capital, he will likely head to the Premier League, with Chelsea being one of the clubs that can afford him.
ESPN reports Neymar is considering leaving the reigning Ligue 1 champions this summer after finding out the club is happy for him to depart.
According to the information, contact has been made with Chelsea due to new owner Todd Boehly’s urge to make a big statement during the summer transfer window.
However, whether The Blues and manager Thomas Tuchel are keen to recruit Neymar remains to be seen. Furthermore, the Brazilian’s agent, Pini Zahavi, is operating to pinpoint other potential suitors.
Despite Zahavi working, he is aware only two or three clubs would be able to come near to the funds Neymar earns at PSG. It’s still surprising to see the forward exit considering he signed an extension with PSG 12 months ago.
At PSG, the Brazilian has an annual salary of €43 million gross without bonuses with five years left on that contract after a clause was reportedly triggered to extend it until 2027.
