Neymar featured for Paris Saint-Germain over its preseason tour against J1 League sides. While he did not score a goal in its opening two such fixtures, he was able to tally for two goals and one assist in the 6-2 friendly victory over Gamba Osaka.
PSG center-back Marquinhos has kept a close eye on Neymar in the preseason, whether during matches or training sessions. With what he has so far seen from the Brazilian forward, he views (via PSG TV) quite a “determined” Neymar.
“I know him very well and I know he likes challenges,” Marquinhos said ahead of the 2022 Trophee des Champions Final. “This is his personality: he is very competitive. Since the start of the season I have seen a determined Neymar. He also worked hard during the holidays to get back in shape for the start of the season.
“Seeing him like this is great. It’s an important season for him and for us. He knows it and we know it. We hope he will have a great season to show all his qualities.”
For now, Neymar is slated to feature in PSG’s upcoming 2022 Trophee des Champions Final against Nantes, where he will have an opportunity to once again make room in his trophy cabinet. Overall, he has so far won 11 total trophies over his ongoing run with the Ligue 1 powerhouse.
