Paris Saint-Germain striker Hugo Ekitike was announced as the latest signing by the French giants. The 20-year-old will now be counted on to deliver a significant portion of the goal-scoring this upcoming season.
The capital club brings in Ekitike, who was also linked to Newcastle United. The Premier League club reportedly agreed to a deal with Stade de Reims over the France international. However, they couldn’t agree to personal terms.
In an interview with PSG TV, the striker about his decision to join the current Ligue 1 champions over other possible destinations that he could have chosen this summer to continue his career.
Ekitike stated that he chose PSG because it tugged at his heart to remain in his home country and play with some of the better players in the world, where he will be counted on to score goals.
“It is the choice of the heart! I’m French too, it’s the club of my homeland, of my country. And then it’s a club where the greatest players evolve, where there is a quality and experienced staff, the desire to win all the titles in all competitions. There is everything here for me to progress,” Ekitike said.

“All the ingredients are there, so it’s a logical choice for me to be here. Finally, I myself have family in the Paris region, and I have always followed Paris Saint-Germain. All this made my desire to join this club very natural. It’s the right choice for me to be here!”
The French striker arrives on a loan deal with an obligation to buy which is a fee of €28.5 million in addition to the €6.5 million bonuses.
