Each of the previous few Paris Saint-Germain managers had his own unique style of play that they implemented for the squad. For newly appointed PSG manager Christophe Galtier, he is aiming to see his side up the tempo when it maintains possession.
Speaking during a pre-match press conference (via PSG TV) ahead of the 2022 Trophee des Champions Final, Galtier touched on the “DNA” of his squad.
“The DNA of Paris Saint-Germain is to attack, to have the ball and to transition quickly,” Galtier said. “We have to be able to attack with six or seven players and counter all of our opponents’ transitions.
“There will be a few more weeks to fine-tune certain passages. Above all, we must let our talent express itself without restrictions.”
PSG has already shown signs of being an aggressive attacking unit when on the ball. The Ligue 1 side is just coming off of a preseason friendly win over J1 League side Gamba Osaka where it tallied for six total goals scored.
For now, Galtier is aiming to open up his official managerial account at PSG with a trophy win against the reigning Coupe de France champions in Nantes.
