From Barcelona to Man United: Journalist Lists Idea Clubs for PSG Flop

The future of Georginio Wijnaldum for this coming season doesn’t appear to be with Paris Saint-Germain. Recent reports indicate that the 31-year-old could be joining AS Roma, but nothing has been made official.

Nonetheless, the Netherlands international is looking to kickstart his career after a terrible first season at PSG that has cost him a call-up to the national team. Ahead of the FIFA World Cup in November, Wijnaldum wants to find a club that will give him starting minutes.

Mirror journalist Jonty Colman put together a list of five clubs that would make the most sense for the midfielder to head to before the summer transfer window closes.

The first is Roma since it’s the club that the former Liverpool star is currently linked to, and it comes as no surprise since manager Jose Mourinho would have seen him during his team managing in the Premier League.

Another club Colman writes would be a fit for the midfielder is FC Barcelona, who could need a midfielder should they part ways with Frenkie de Jong. After spending big on some players, perhaps getting Wijnaldum on a discount could tempt them.

Finally, the last three clubs are Premier League sides, with two of the three being teams that Wijnaldum has already played on in Liverpool and Newcastle United; as a result, the midfielder would walk into a situation that’s familiar to him.

Manchester United would be the final club that could make sense if The Red Devils strike out on their pursuit of de Jong.
