Former Lionel Messi Teammate Pours Cold Water on a Barcelona Reunion at Inter Miami

Lionel Messi has one more year on his deal with Paris Saint-Germain with an option to stay for another season. Nonetheless, next summer could see the 35-year-old exit the French capital, and there’s plenty of speculation about what he will do next.

The Argentine has long been linked to Inter Miami should he move to the MLS, and if he does, though, Messi won’t be joined by a former FC Barcelona teammate.

Free-agent striker Luis Suarez Último al Arco de Sport 890 spoke about the rumors regarding him playing for the MLS side with Messi. However, the Uruguay international put cold water on that possibility.

“Play with Messi at Inter Miami? That is not real. Many things are said. We players cannot go out 24 hours a day to deny what they say. We let them talk; we let them say. Leo has his future in Paris. Then I don’t know where he will want to retire,” Suarez said.

“I have my project, which is at a sports level now. And then discuss it with my family. Then, if we both end up living in Barcelona? Yes, because we are friends, families are friends. But from there to having a sports project together… they speculate, they talk a lot, they sell a lot. They have to leave that.”

If Messi decides to end his venture with PSG after this upcoming season, there will be plenty of rumors surrounding what will be next for him in the twilight of his career. For now, what the Argentine has on his mind is winning the World Cup and UEFA Champions League with PSG.
