There’s no question that the Paris Saint-Germain job is a demanding one considering that the end goal is to win the UEFA Champions League. For talkSPORT Gabriel Agbonlahor, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is the only guy that can take the job.
Guardiola is the only manager that the former Aston Villa forward sees that can go into the PSG dressing room and command authority. The Spanish boss would have the command due to what he’s accomplished.
“How do you go in there and stamp your authority? Because you’ve got superstars in there, you know, superstars. Mbappe, the most exciting player in the world for me, is going to be definitely the best player in the world soon. Lionel Messi probably the best player ever, ever to play the game. Neymar is not wanted by PSG, but he just ended up signing a new five-year contract,” Agbonlahor said.

👀 “The only manager I can see succeeding at PSG would be Pep Guardiola.”

“So horrible job and the only manager that I can feel could succeed at that club. Managers like Pep Guardiola. He’s all he managed, Messi. He’s already managed Neymar. I feel like Mbappe will respect him because of what he’s done in the game, but managers like Galtier and Pochettino haven’t really won the trophies. They’re not going to get the respect of the top, top players.”
During the Qatari Sports Investment era, plenty of managers have come and gone, including the likes of Carlo Ancelotti and Thomas Tuchel. Mauricio Pochettino is the latest gaffer to be sacked after failing to secure Europe’s top trophy.
Furthermore, Christophe Galtier, who has the backing of sporting advisor Luis Campos, has a connection between the two men who have had success together at Lille OSC. It will be interesting to see if the two men can replicate that at PSG by winning the Champions League.
