Paris Saint-Germain football advisor Luis Campos will soon have to resolve the futures of multiple players who spent the past year on one-season loan stints. Among them, veteran goalkeeper Alphonse Areola is already receiving notable transfer interest from the Premier League.
As noted by RMC Sport, Newcastle United is open to signing Areola over the upcoming summer transfer window. The report added that West Ham United is also aiming to come to terms with PSG for the signing of Areola.
PSG is looking to offload Areola in the coming months, which comes as the goalkeeper has a mere one season remaining on his contract. He spent the past season at West Ham, which came after PSG agreed to a one-season loan agreement with the Premier League side that included an option to buy.
On Newcastle’s part, Martin Dubravka, Karl Darlow, and Freddie Woodman all featured at the goalkeeper position for the club last season. Dubravka led the team in such starts in Premier League play with 26, which included eight clean sheets recorded.
As it stands, PSG is set to have Gianluigi Donnarumma and Keylor Navas as its top two goalkeeper options for next season.
