Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar is Paris Saint-Germain’s top choice to help improve their backline. However, with both clubs far apart in terms of agreeing on a transfer fee, the capital club is reportedly exploring other options.
According to L’Equipe (via Paris Fans), two players that sporting advisor Luis Campos is familiar with are next in line if the Skriniar pursuit falls through. The French media outlet states Lille OSC’s Sven Botman and Arsenal’s Gabriel are two names the club chief has as Plan B.
The Serie A club wants a fee between €60-million and €80-million, which for PSG feels like a steep price considering the Slovakia international has one more year left on his contract.
Furthermore, with PSG dealing with some revenue losses due to the pandemic, they will have to spend smart. As a result, Campos may want Skriniar, but paying a questionable fee for someone who can leave Inter Milan next summer wouldn’t be a wise financial decision.
PSG will also have to sell players to trim down their squad and wage bills. There are plenty of candidates that can exit. Some will be more challenging to offload considering the lack of market; others might be easier to recoup a reasonable fee.
