‘Part of It…’ – Kylian Mbappe Details Reasons for Rejecting Real Madrid

When Kylian Mbappe decided to extend his contract with Paris Saint-Germain, many were confused by the decision taken by the 23-year-old.

After seeing another UEFA Champions League failure from the French giants and Los Blancos lifting their 14th title, some thought the decision would be a no-brainer, head to the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.

However, that wasn’t the case. Mbappe chose to sign a new contract with PSG, keeping him in his hometown until 2025. In an interview with BFMTV, he shed light on why he opted to stay in Paris.

Mbappe stated that winning the Champions League for PSG and becoming the capital club’s top goal scorer is what he has on the agenda now that he has put the contract talks behind him.

“Become PSG’s top scorer and the goal of the Champions League? There are more than that, but both are part of it. Of course, the Champions League is the clear objective displayed. No more objectives need to be listed. That’s what we want. Now we know there is a way,” Mbappe said.

“We also know that this must go through unanimity at the national level. I don’t think in the last two years we haven’t done that. And top scorer in history, I think it can go well. It’s going to be something amazing if I manage to do it. But if I continue like this, there is no reason.”

The 23-year-old wants to make history by bringing something that no one has ever brought to PSG and his hometown, a Champions League trophy. Only one French club has won the competition, and Mbappe wants to ensure that the Ligue 1 champions are the next to win it.
