Since the arrival of Paris Saint-Germain sporting advisor Luis Campos, one of the names linked to the capital club is Lille OSC Sven Botman, who is seen as an alternative if they cannot land Inter Milan’s Milan Skriniar this summer.
However, it seems as though if the Ligue 1 champions can’t agree on a deal for the Slovakian defender, Campos will need to scratch Botman off his Plan B list. L’Equipe and The Athletic report that the 22-year-old is close to landing with Newcastle United.
The reporting states that The Magpies have agreed to a deal worth €37 million plus add-ons for the signing of the Netherlands international. Furthermore, the defender will be taking his medical next week, and the final hurdle will be personal terms, but the report says it shouldn’t be an issue.
PSG wants to upgrade their backline as they’re likely heading to a three-at-the-back system and the Ligue 1 champions want to bring someone in the slides Presnel Kimpembe and Sergio Ramos down the depth chart.
