Newcastle United Has “No Intention” of Improving Bid to Land PSG Transfer Target

Paris Saint-Germain wants to add a striker this summer transfer window to possibly replace the outgoing Mauro Icardi if they can find a suitor. One target they will want to bring in to take over the spot should the Argentine leave is Stade de Reims’ Hugo Ekitike.

Transfer window specialist Fabrizio Romano provided the latest on the Ekitike file, stating that Newcastle United has no intentions of improving its bid. The Magpies have an agreement with the French club but haven’t agreed on the personal terms.

Romano doesn’t add if Newcastle United will keep the offer on the table or is walking away from a possible deal; he simply says the Premier League club has “no intention to proceed at current conditions.”

Meanwhile, from a PSG perspective, the journalist notes that sporting advisor Luis Campos is a big fan of the 20-year-old; however, the only way a possible deal with the Ligue 1 champions can occur is on the outgoings; until then, there will be no bid.

Ekitike appeared in 26 fixtures for Reims, where he scored 11 goals and recorded four assists.
