Paris Saint-Germain is wasting no time in making changes after the conclusion of the Ligue 1 season. According to RMC Sport, PSG has elected to pick Luis Campos to replace Leonardo as the club’s sporting director.
For the moment, the arrival of the former AS Monaco and Lille OSC sporting director is a matter of “formality.” From there, the first act for the club will be to part ways with manager Mauricio Pochettino, who currently has one more season remaining on his contract.
As it stands, no decision has been made within the club on just who will succeed Pochettino as its new manager. There is expected to be a “reflection” within the club to further resolve this matter.
Pochettino was hired by PSG after its call to sack German manager Thomas Tuchel in 2020. The Argentine manager would go on to lead PSG to Ligue 1 and Coupe de France competition wins, but he did not guide the side to UEFA Champions League triumph in each of the last two seasons.
On Campos’ part, he helped construct what turned out to be the Lille OSC side that went on to win Ligue 1 in the 2020-2021 campaign. He departed from the club in 2020.
