The summer transfer window hasn’t yet opened, and the first head-scratching rumor has surfaced. When Paris Saint-Germain landed Achraf Hakimi, they did so by beating out Chelsea to land the Morrocco international.
However, The Athletic reports Chelsea has not given up hope of bringing Hakimi to west London and is now closely observing his situation at PSG. The Blues have Reece James at the position, but his name is being linked to Manchester City and Real Madrid.
Chelsea wants to open discussions regarding a new contract, suggesting they have no urge to sell this summer. But reigniting their interest in Hakimi does pose whether they are readying themselves just in case James leaves in the future.
Before the arrivals of Hakimi and Nuno Mendes, PSG struggled to find world-class full-backs, and now it seems they have two guys that will command those positions for years to come. It’s hard seeing the capital club giving him up when the 23-year-old has four years left on his deal.
