Getting young in the forward group is something Paris Saint-Germain wants to do regardless of whether Kylian Mbappé remains or not since the rest of the players are in their late 20s and 30s.
Furthermore, Mauro Icardi is one player the capital club is keen on moving on from this summer, and they already have a target in mind to take over that striker role.
According to Foot Mercato, sporting director Leonardo is studying the pursuit of Benfica’s Darwin Nuñez, who has many European clubs pursuing him this summer. Newcastle United and Manchester United are some teams reportedly hoping to land the 22-year-old.
However, the Uruguay international sees PSG as a more attractive destination since they will play UEFA Champions League football. Portuguese media outlet O Jogo also reported that the capital club is prepared to make an offer.
The report states that the French giants are preparing €120 million for Nuñez. The French have the Uruguayan at the top of their priorities and want to move forward quickly.
Nonetheless, no further word as to whether this pursuit hinges on Mbappé leaving or if they’ll pursue him to play alongside the France international.
