Paris Saint-Germain has a new sporting director in Luis Campos, who has yet to be officially announced to his new position; however, the lack of a presentation isn’t stopping the Portuguese club chief from making moves to improve the squad for next season.
The capital club needs to improve its midfield, and Campos has already identified a target he wants to pursue. According to Mundo Deportivo, the new PSG sporting director eyes FC Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong.
The report states that Campos finds the Netherlands international very high quality and has followed him since his debut at the Ajax academy and would like to bring him to PSG.
When it comes to a possible asking price, the report doesn’t include one, but Transfermarkt puts the 24-year-old’s value at €70-million. This past 2021-22 season, de Jong made 47 appearances scoring four goals and five assists.
Marco Verratti is the only midfielder that seems safe at PSG; the rest could be on the move if Campos and his unofficial Antero Henrique, who’s in charge of selling the players who have no future in Paris.
