PSG Mercato: Journalist Claims Deal Nearing Between Paris SG and Man United’s Paul Pogba

Paris Saint-Germain wants to improve their midfield this summer and it seem as though they’re on the verge of landing their first recruit of the summer to help reinforce the position.

According to TuttoMercatoWeb’s Marco Conterio, PSG is ramping up its pursuit of Manchester United’s Paul Pogba, whose deal with The Red Devils expires next month.

Furthermore, the Italian football journalist states that Les Parisiens has been working intensely in recent hours discussing an agreement with Pogba, with a deal for the 29-year-old would be very close.

Pogba, when he’s on his game, is one of the better midfielders on the planet. He’s someone that’s right there with Marco Verratti regarding talent level, which is something the capital club has lacked since they’ve become too reliant on the Italian.

However, there are red flags with Pogba. First, his injuries are beginning to rack up, and at 29, he’s in the final years of his prime, so the recovery process might take longer as he’s dealt with calf and hamstring injuries this season, leading to him missing 19 games.

PSG has already been down this road with Ramos, who was coming off injuries in his final year with Real Madrid, and they only continued.

Then there’s the motivation factor and whether being in his hometown will either fuel him to be at a top-level like when he’s with the France national team or will the issues that Pogba has had with Manchester United linger over to PSG.
