Neymar Speaks Out on What It Felt to Be Booed at the Parc des Princes Earlier This Season

One of the lows of Paris Saint-Germain’s 2021-2022 season centered on the Ligue 1 home fixture against Bordeaux. PSG was just days removed from the UEFA Champions League elimination to Real Madrid, and the atmosphere at this match was simply off.

For one, Neymar was booed throughout the match, and the boos did not stop even after he scored a key second half goal.

In speaking to veteran Flamengo midfielder Diego Ribas during an Instagram Live, Neymar reflected on what it was like to be showered with boos and whistles during a fixture at the Parc des Princes.

“Nobody likes to be booed, even less so at home,” Neymar said. “It is boring, it is sad. This has happened to me at PSG, in the national team, and I am sad. I was not comfortable, but I have to find the strength from somewhere.

“I am reminded by my childhood, the people who helped me. I think about playing for them who really support me, not for the people who boo me.”

Overall, Neymar has responded well to the reception that he received during the Bordeaux fixture. He has chipped in with nine total goal contributions in his last five matches in Ligue 1 play.

Neymar is slated to feature in PSG’s upcoming league home fixture against Troyes.
