Marquinhos Discusses PSG’s Champions League Expectations for Next Season After Mbappe’s Extension Deal

With Kylian Mbappe electing to sign off on a multiyear contract extension agreement with Paris Saint-Germain, the reigning Ligue 1 champions are slated to head into next season among the early contenders in the UEFA Champions League competition. But from Marquinhos’ standpoint, he sees that the club still has ways to go before it can win an elusive Champions League title.

Speaking to Prime Video Sport France after PSG’s 5-0 Ligue 1 home victory against Metz, Marquinhos touched on the club’s outlook for the Champions League next season after Mbappe’s extension deal.

“It’s not that easy,” Marquinhos said. “Extension is a big step, but there are a lot of things to do. We have to analyze what has been good and bad this season. But the Champions League is the detail that is missing.”

PSG has come close as of late to triumph in the Champions League, but it has failed time and time again to win Europe’s most prestigious club competition.

A crucial summer transfer window now awaits PSG, where plenty of changes across the board could possibly be on the horizon.
