With Kylian Mbappe deciding to stay put at Paris Saint-Germain, football fans around the world will be treated to seeing the Frenchman tag along with Lionel Messi for at least one more season. From Ander Herrera’s standpoint, he sees that the best may still be yet to come for the two.

The Spanish international spoke (via L’Equipe) following PSG’s Ligue 1 home win over Metz, where he provided an outlook on the two superstar forwards.

“I think Kylian is at the center of the club’s project,” Herrera said. “I think we have a very strong group, and we had a good season even with the difficulties.

“I am very optimistic for the next season. I already said it after Montpellier, but the way Leo Messi plays, he will help Kylian and Kylian will also help him to play well to win things. I hope we will start the next season well.”

Mbappe and Messi shined together this season, as the two continually assisted each other for key goals over the course of the campaign. They did not have keen success in crucial fixtures such as the UEFA Champions League round of 16 second leg against Real Madrid, although they did show plenty of promise during their time on the pitch together.
