The FIFA World Cup is right around the corner, and there are multiple nations whose players are under the spotlight to win the tournament for their country.
One of them is Neymar Jr., who has the task of helping Brazil in their two-decade drought. Brazil last won the World Cup in 2002 and hasn’t been able to lift the trophy since then.
In an interview with TNT Sports Brazil (via UOL), former Inter Milan star Adriano stated that Neymar has all the qualities to lead the Seleção to its sixth world title. However, Adriano expresses that his fellow Brazilians need to trust the 30-year-old later this year.
“For sure. [Neymar] has already shown his potential. We have to trust him. At any moment, he can solve it. We Brazilians need the football he presents,” Adriano said.
The former Brazilian star continues by saying that anyone who plays for the Seleção deals with the pressure of putting on that uniform. Furthermore, as someone who has put on that kit, Adriano preaches patience, considering it’s not an easy take to live up to the expectations.
“It’s normal (to get tough with Neymar). It’s not just with him, but with everyone who wears the shirt of the Brazilian team. It’s demanded a lot because you expect the best. The fans have to have a little patience. It’s not easy for us,” Adriano said.
