Video: Mauricio Pochettino Discusses Supporters Booing Lionel Messi, Winning the Ligue 1 Title

Paris Saint-Germain won their 10th Ligue 1 title, tying AS Saint-Étienne for the most in French football. However, the celebration has come with the capital club being at odds with their ultras, considering they departed the stands at the 75th-minute mark to celebrate outside.

Furthermore, the boos are still being felt by some since the UEFA Champions Elimination, including Lionel Messi. During his interview with ESPN, manager Mauricio Pochettino was about seeing the 34-year-old heckled by some of the supporters during the match against RC Lens.

“It’s incredible; they are difficult things to accept. Situations that are unlikely that are not understood. How great [Messi] is, what he gives to football, and what he is going to continue giving to football. Happy for him. I congratulated him after the game and one more title for his record,” Pochettino said.

Also, Pochettino discussed what it meant to be able to win a league title for the club that he once captained as a player.

“For everyone, it is important to give the club another title. And on a personal level, I, who have played here and have been captain, after less than 18 months, having won three titles with this club, is a great satisfaction. We hope to achieve something bigger in the future,” Pochettino added.
