‘They Are Old Players’ – Pundit Calls for PSG to Move On From Lionel Messi, Neymar

There are plenty of rumors circulating since Paris Saint-Germain crashed out in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 against Real Madrid. Plenty of focus is on sporting director Leonardo and manager Mauricio Pochettino.

However, some want to see drastic changes to the squad, and for French football pundit Etienne Moatti it means thinking about moving on from Lionel Messi and Neymar Jr.

During a segment on L’Equipe du Soir (via Canal Supporters), Moatti stated that Messi’s lack of motivation to play for PSG and the decline of Neymar should have Les Parisiens thinking about moving on from those two players.

“The question as formulated seems good to me. It deserves to be asked. They are old players, for one, Lionel Messi, who clearly does not have an irresistible urge to play for PSG, and for Neymar, his performance is still very much in decline,” Moatti said.

“They have the two highest salaries in Ligue 1 and, by far, huge salaries which weigh down the accounts of Paris Saint-Germain a little. So, if you have the possible possibility, even if it will be very complicated, of having a possibility of transferring them elsewhere, obviously you have to think about it.”

It’s easier said than done to move on from Neymar and Messi, considering their wages, as not many clubs in the world could afford to pay them what they make at PSG.

Nonetheless, it will be interesting to see if possibly a new sporting director and manager can get the best out of them.

  1. Lmao says a team that has no respect in the European level, how much of a shame it is that a player that is bieng the best in the world rn namely MBAPPE grew up in France, and he said that PSG wasn’t even known inside our country lmfao, even Marseille and Lyon are 10 times better than that money runn club of yours and litterally *OLD players like Messi, Neymar and Di maria all got a gracious performances for their countries in the break, the problem lies within the club not in the players.
And these so called PSG fans that I don’t know even existed, are crying to remove Sheikh Mansour without whome this club is equal to a random city club.
