Pundit Rips Lionel Messi for Not Celebrating Ligue 1 Title With Supporters

Paris Saint-Germain clinched its 10th Ligue 1 title this past weekend, tying AS Saint-Étienne for the most in league history. However, the milestone did come on a sour note in the season, considering the ultras decided to leave the stadium and celebrate outside.

Furthermore, plenty of reports suggests that changes are coming to the capital club following their latest humiliation loss in the UEFA Champions League. Then there’s the contract situation with Kylian Mbappé, who can leave on a free transfer in June.

With all this going on surrounding the Ligue 1 title, RMC Sport pundit Daniel Riolo took issue with Lionel Messi’s attitude, pointing out that the 34-year-old, rather than celebrate on the pitch with his teammates and supporters who were at the game, headed to the locker room.

Riolo stated that he doesn’t understand how PSG can keep the Argentine around if he doesn’t show emotion or attempts to connect with the supporters.

“The sad title of Paris Saint-Germain, the sad season. I wonder if the club will finally understand why the real fans are outside the stadium! There are many symbols, like Messi, who is champion and goes directly to the locker room!” Riolo said on RMC Sport (via Paris Fans).

“I don’t see how he could continue to play for this club when he doesn’t share anything with people. What are you playing for then? For the stamp? It’s not football anymore.”

  1. How do they want him to connect with them while they disrespect him?
This is not their first champion’s league lost, why then do they have to disrespect him in such manner?
    It’s not fair.
    😠😠😠

    1. You talk well bro. How will you pretend to connect with people who never value you. How will I pretend to like you when you show me by booing me simply because we got kicked out of champ league. Messi never pretend, he is just himself. Humility is simply be yourself. Messi is humble. He never pretend

    2. How can they say that while they disrespect him whenever he is in the pitch this is not fair at all let’s be honest that’s why sometimes we lose we will never go further if we continue with this habit.

  2. He did well for walking away from the fans. If they can disrespect him, then he can equally disrespect them.
The fans are not fair to Messi 😡

  3. This pundit is bias, same fans and supporters who disrespected him. With their actions towards him, it is clear they needed him to win UCL and not to be a member of their family. So this relationship is a contractual one and let it stay that way. Stop saying rubbish

  6. It’s not really fair for the fans to disrespect Messi and co.. because of a loss against Real Madrid.
It shows that they(fans) are not even serious with themselves. Those guys played well against Real Madrid. It’s very normal to miss a penalty.
Why criticize a player for missing a penalty? It’s part of the game, either you score or miss.

  7. How can they disrespect him. The fans do not know the value of GOAT until he leaves PSG. They will know that they have lost something just like Barcelona. I love the way he did celebrate it with the fans.

  8. for the sake of relevancy. who tf is Riolo? is he a big figure of football? he speaks like he have won something big in his life.

  9. This reporter is biased, …..just want some attention, why should he celebrate when the cloud was not happy after 1-1 draw ……everyone was not happy with the result…some reporters hahahahaha

  10. This guy is a total idiot. Why on earth should he celebrate with the fans when they brutally attacked him by whistling and booing for 90 minutes every time he had the ball.It wasn’t his fault PSG lost to Real. They attack him constantly, saying he’s doing nothing for the club, bc they are goal materialists. They have no idea what he is doing. He is a playmaker, like Xavi and Iniesta. Nobody cared about their goals. He gives beautiful chances to others, which they miss. He gets high ratings, in the 8s. He has the second highest assist, 13, to Mbappe’s 14. He is beaten up for being unselfish. It clearly hurts him, so why should he smile and celebrate with these ridiculous brats, these so-called fans.

  11. Of course he wouldn’t celebrate with the fans. Those are the same fans who booed him and Neymar because of their UCL mishap. Messi is always looking to help his team however he can, and his goal secured the title, what more could you really want from him. He maybe extraordinary but he’s also real. Nobody would pretend to love the people who showed them hate.

  12. Yet Messi has been dignified and walked off. Any one else would have flashed the middle finger towards the under deserving fans.

  13. You should always accept the fact that humble and selfless people do give harmless action to ingrate
    Never you underrate
