When Paris Saint-Germain crashed out of the UEFA Champions League in the Round of 16, many were expecting change to come to the capital club at the managerial and sporting director role.

However, since the elimination in March, no moves have yet been made regarding the futures of manager Mauricio Pochettino and sporting director Leonardo.

Former PSG midfielder Jérôme Rothen explained that Kylian Mbappé was still hesitant and waiting for changes within the club during a segment on his Rothen s’enflamme show on RMC Sport.

“Today, there is a real hesitation. In his head, it’s always the same thing: he wants to leave as long as there are no changes at PSG. In this case, there is no change that has been announced at PSG,” Rothen said.

Rothen then stated that those close to the situation told him that changes at the capital club would occur at the beginning of May. Then the former PSG man speculates that this is what Mbappé is waiting to see before deciding what the French giants will do to convince him they’re serious about winning the Champions League.

“Personally, I was told that there will be changes from the beginning of May. It will be announced. Perhaps he is waiting for that, and the meeting that took place today starts from there, to warn them before anyone else, to explain to them,” Rothen said.

“As for the contract, it is not a financial problem. Wherever he goes, he will earn a lot of money.” It will be interesting to see what these changes are and whether they’re significant enough for Mbappé to extend his contract.
