Pochettino Reacts to the Boos Ramos Received During PSG’s Ligue 1 Home Fixture vs. Lorient

Sergio Ramos made his long-awaited return to action in Paris Saint-Germain’s Ligue 1 home fixture against Lorient.

After being cleared to return to action following his lengthy injury recovery process for his calf issue, Ramos was included in the team’s squad list for the fixture against Lorient and wound up being a second half substitute in the contest. Overall, the Spanish international was booed upon stepping onto the pitch and went on to hear boos and whistles when he touched the ball.

In the big picture, PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino (via L’Equipe) much understands where the fans were coming from considering that he sees that they are still not over the team’s UEFA Champions League elimination to Real Madrid, but he believes that the Spaniard should garner “respect.”

“We are all affected,” Pochettino said. “I think it’s the frustration of the fans for the result, I don’t think it’s directed against him, he’s a great champion, he deserves respect like all the players in the Paris Saint Germain.”

Ramos has now featured in six matches in all competitions with PSG this season. The side now has a mere eight matches remaining on its Ligue 1 schedule.
