Neymar Shoots Back at PSG Supporters Booing Him, Discusses Ligue 1 Title

Neymar Jr.’s relationship with the Collectif Ultra Paris has been rocky, seeing the 30-year-old be booed and heckled on various occasions. The most recent incident came a few weeks ago when he was booed following the elimination from the UEFA Champions League.

After Paris Saint-Germain drew 1-1 against RC Lens to clinch the club’s tenth Ligue 1 title, Neymar spoke with ESPN’s Gemma Soler, where she asked the Brazil international about the ultras leaving at the 75th minute to celebrate winning the league outside.

Furthermore, Soler asked Neymar about the booing and heckling that he has received from the supporters, and the forward stated that they’d get tired of these actions considering he extended his contract last year.

“It was surreal that part of the public would leave the stands,” Neymar said. “They are going to get tired of whistling because I have three more years left on my contract.”

Neymar also spoke with PSG TVHe discussed winning the league and how the squad celebrated the historic accomplishment since it puts the capital club on par with AS Saint-Étienne with the most titles in Ligue 1 history.

“I wasn’t there, but there was some champagne in the locker room! But I’m especially happy for tonight and the title, which is the most important,” Neymar concluded.

“Yes, it was a long and difficult season with everything that happened. But today we managed to win the championship; it was really important for us. Now we need to breathe, to calm our minds, which is the most important thing.”
