Mbappe Opens Up on What It Has Been Like to ‘Learn’ from Messi This Season

Kylian Mbappe sees (via Le10Sport) that it has been an “honor” to play alongside Lionel Messi at Paris Saint-Germain this season.

“To see him every day, to see what he can do, he can improve my game because he is a unique player,” Mbappe told ESPN Argentina after PSG’s Ligue 1 home win over Lorient. “I have the chance to play with him. It is an honor. I have always said that I never thought I could play with Messi but today I do, I play with him. And I’m very happy.

“I learn a lot with him. He is a unique player, a legend who will go down in football history. It’s a pleasure for me.”

Mbappe and Messi were standout performers in PSG’s victory over Lorient. Mbappe recorded five total goal contributions with two goals and three assists, while Messi chipped in with a goal. The French international assisted the Argentine on his goal, as overall, the two had their way in PSG’s attack over the course of the fixture.

While Messi has garnered mixed reviews regarding his run at PSG so far, he has simply continued to record goals and assists in Ligue 1 play this season. The veteran forward has recorded eight total goal contributions in his last seven appearances in league play.

Eight league fixtures now await Messi and PSG for the rest of this season.
