Over the last two weeks, Paris Saint-Germain has seen the trio of Lionel Messi, Neymar Jr., and Kylian Mbappé flourish and perform as many expected them to do when the Argentine forward joined them this past summer.
However, the trio couldn’t click for most of the season, even in Ligue 1 fixtures. Nonetheless, it seems as though the chemistry between the three is beginning to flourish.
In an interview with Canal Plus (via Canal Supporters), Mbappé spoke about their form where the trio seems to be clicking.
“Yeah, it’s a shame it’s only happening now. Afterward, there were quite a few circumstances and events that caused us to be a little delayed. But we feel that they are three quality players. We try to help the team as much as possible, and that’s what happened today,” Mbappé said.
Last week, Mbappé and Neymar scored a brace against FC Lorient, and on Saturday, the duo both scored a hat-trick against Clermont Foot. Furthermore, Messi has provided one goal and three assists in the last two matches as he keeps up with his two teammates.
There’s a buzzkill to this recent form, considering it’s coming when PSG is eliminated from the UEFA Champions League and Coupe de France. The league is wrapped up, and the only marquee match is against Olympique de Marseille next week, so they’ll be hoping to keep this form against their arch-rival.
