Video: ‘We Saw Another Real Madrid’ – Karim Benzema Talks How They Were Able to Defeat PSG

Karim Benzema put forth a performance against Paris Saint-Germain at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium. The France international scored a hat-trick in 17 minutes in the second half, giving Real Madrid the 3-2 win on aggregate.

Following the victory over the capital club, the 34-year-old spoke with RMC Sport, where he pointed at PSG’s lack of conversion that allowed the Spanish side to remain in the matchup over the two legs.

“There were two games: in the first leg, where we weren’t good, and this one. We saw another Real Madrid, with a high block and a lot of pressure. We pushed. We showed today that we are a great team, even if PSG are too, and that we deserve our place in the quarter-finals,” Benzema said.

“They have world-class players. They lack success; in the first leg, they could have scored more goals. Kylian is disappointed; he wanted to shine. On the way, he made a big game. On the return, he scored in the first period, but after we muzzled him.”

Also, Benzema touched on whether it was a foul on his first goal when he took the ball away from Gianluigi Donnarumma.

“No, not at all. [Donnarumma] waits, I press him, and he just loses the ball,” Benzema said.
