Paris Saint-Germain captain Marquinhos had a rough night at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium. The 27-year-old was responsible for a mistake resulting in a goal by Karim Benzema, leading to Real Madrid winning 3-1 and 3-2 on aggregate.
After the loss resulting in the capital club crashing out in the UEFA Champions League, Marquinhos spoke to Canal Plus, discussing the disappointing result, adding that the French giants deserved better than the ending that ended up having in the Spanish capital.
“The turning point of the match at 1-1? It was an important moment for them, with the energy of the stadium. It gives you extra strength. We should have handled this situation better. We made small mistakes. We often say that football is played on the small details.”
“Mistakes pay cash. On the general context of the two matches, we deserved better all the same, but at the end of the match, we paid too much for it. It’s hard to explain. Once again, we had the game in hand; we had won at home, we were leading here. If we look at the context, we could do better at the end of the match. Then it’s easy to say.”
