Video: ‘We Had Difficulty Pressing’ – Marquinhos Discusses PSG’s Loss to Nice

Paris Saint-Germain’s final tune-up fixture before facing Real Madrid in their UEFA Champions League Round 16 and the capital club ended up on the losing side.

Following a goal from OGC Nice forward Andy Delort, the Ligue 1 giants will be heading to the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium on a sour note. After the defeat, Marquinhos spoke to Canal Plus, discussing the loss to Nice, and the PSG captain stated the opponent is a tough one.

“A tough match? As always, against them. It’s a team that works well, that squeezes the spaces well, that pressed us. In the first half, we had difficulty pressing,” Marquinhos said.

“In the second half, we were a little better. We were a little more aggressive; we had more of the ball. The small details at the end of the match, where we tried to score, and we opened up a little too much, and we took a counter. We have to manage better.”

Furthermore, the 27-year-old stated that PSG must fix the minor details, adding that they had their chances against Nice but needed to execute better.

“It’s the little details that we have to work on. We got few chances even if we had the ball. We had difficulty finding spaces. We turned the ball around, but sometimes you have to take risks. We only had two or three dangerous chances, but they too weren’t too dangerous, but they were effective,” Marquinhos said.

“When we win, everything is fine, and when we lose, we have to put our feet on the ground and look at things to improve. In a season, there are ups and downs. You don’t have to worry. We are first, but losing must not become a habit, especially outside. […] Outside, we have to bring back points.”
