Lionel Messi returned to action for the Argentina national team in its 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying fixture against Venezuela.

The Paris Saint-Germain forward earned a start upfront in manager Lionel Scaloni’s 4-3-3 setup in the contest. He scored a goal, created three goal-scoring chances for teammates and also won 12 ground duels over the course of the match.

Argentina finished with a notable 3-0 win for its 11th victory of World Cup qualifying play.
