It’s been close to 24 hours since Paris Saint-Germain experienced another humiliating result in the UEFA Champions League. The capital club conceded a hat-trick to Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema in 17 minutes, leading to the 3-2 defeat.
There’s plenty of criticism to go around following this loss, and former PSG midfielder and RMC Sport pundit Jérôme Rothen went after Neymar Jr. and Lionel Messi on Rothen s’enflamme.
Rothen stated the two players didn’t do nearly as much as Kylian Mbappé and went as far as to call the two players mercenaries.
“The responsible for this defeat, for me, are Neymar and Messi,” Rothen said. “It is up to them to take their responsibilities! When Leonardo recruits them and that he puts them up there for us, they are legends of the club, they have their status, and they are paid for it!”
“So who are you attacking? I am not attacking Verratti, Danilo, Paredes, or Mbappé; I’m going after the other two, the two mercenaries!”
