The Paris Saint-Germain squad continues to be wheeling from crashing out of the UEFA Champions League in a humiliating fashion. After having a 2-0 aggregate lead over Real Madrid, the capital club conceded a hat-trick in the second half to Karim Benzema in under 20 minutes.
Lionel Messi has been on the receiving end of criticism by some French and English football media members. However, FC Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez spoke at his press conference, offering some encouraging words to his former teammate.
“I have sent encouragement to Messi. These are football situations; Real Madrid turned around with faith and desire and won the tie. The Champions League is like that. It happens to us too. If you lower the intensity, they can beat you,” Xavi said.
