A recent report from journalist Gerard Romero revealed that the father of Lionel Messi, Jorge, contacted FC Barcelona leaders to discuss a potential return to the club.
However, the Spanish media outlet Mundo Deportivo states Barça and those close to Messi refute the report of an approach by the player’s father to the Catalan club to raise the possibility of the Argentine’s return.
Mundo Deportivo details that there was no call from Messi’s father. Furthermore, relatives see no possibility of the 34-year-old returning; given the contract situation, Messi has a deal with PSG until 2023, with an optional year.
Also, those close to the situation on the Barça claim that the La Liga side didn’t receive a call from Jorge discussing a possible return. They consider the chances of this happening very difficult, a year after the shock of the separation between the two parties.
Messi was on the receiving end of PSG supporters heckling him throughout this past weekend’s fixture against FC Girondins de Bordeaux.
